The State of Black Arizona is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the prestigious 2024 African American Leadership Institute (AALI). This year, the organization will host two institutes in the fall, providing even more opportunities for aspiring leaders throughout the state to participate and grow.
“By cultivating leaders in our community, the State of Black Arizona lays the foundation for a more resilient, empowered, and inclusive future,” said Teniqua Broughton, Chief Executive Officer for the State of Black Arizona. “By investing in leadership development, we ensure that our communities are led by individuals who are not only extremely capable but also deeply connected to the values and needs of the people they serve.”
The Phoenix Institute will welcome its 8th cohort, while the Southern Arizona Institute, in concert with the African American Legacy Fund of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, will host its 4th cohort.
“The African American Leadership Institute (AALI) has had a significant impact on my personal and professional growth,” said Dr. Vashi Worley Moore, an AALI alumnus. “Training in essential leadership skills such as strategic thinking, decision-making, conflict resolution, and effective communication with people of similar experiences has been invaluable. AALI prompted me to reconsider my priorities, shift my focus, and rethink what truly matters to me.”
AALI’s 10-week program features weekly master classes and two leadership retreats on Saturdays. The retreats focus on experiential learning and team building. The program concludes with a graduation ceremony that is open to the community. The AALI curriculum is carefully designed to empower participants with the skills and knowledge needed to excel as leaders in their respective fields.
Two information sessions are currently scheduled to provide an opportunity for interested individuals to learn more about the African American Leadership Institute, including the engaging program schedule and important dates for the 2024 cohort.
