Joanna de’Shay, owner of the upscale women’s contemporary label, Black Russian, recently received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design from the prestigious Academy of Art University in San Francisco. The Academy of Art University is ranked 14 out of the top 50 fashion schools in the world and is considered one of the top fashions schools in the nation. The rigorous graduate level curriculum includes coursework in illustration, design, merchandising, textiles and knitwear, in addition to advanced computer technologies designed to equip graduates with skills to immediately launch their career in the fashion industry. De’Shay received her degree in San Francisco over the Memorial Day weekend.

Starting with her award-winning performance at the 2009 Phoenix Fashion Week, de’Shay creates innovative collections that have been lauded by industry experts, entertainers and career women as the new “it” label with classic, funky, sophisticated pieces that helps elevate their style.
